Finland - Hong Kong Trade Association

Hong Kong generates powerful advantages for the management and coordination functions of overseas firms. More than one in three of the multinational firms active in the Asia-Pacific have chosen Hong Kong as their headquarters for the region. No other city can match this share. A special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China (PRC), Hong Kong is a common law jurisdiction with a judicial system firmly based on the rule of law and world-class intellectual property safeguards. Its finances are independent of the mainland's and its corporate and individual tax rates are among the lowest anywhere. Capital moves freely through Hong Kong. Hong Kong is the leading trading "gateway" and logistics hub for mainland Chinese businesses reaching out to the world.

The Pearl River Delta: Production Basin and Emerging Market

Just north of Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland's Pearl River Delta (PRD) is one of the mainland's principal economic engines and one of the world's largest manufacturing basins. The PRD has a usual resident population rising to 40 million. The Pearl River Delta has become the manufacturing powerhouse of China. It leads all of China in the manufacture of a wide variety of electronics and communications products. As a production base for foreign investors, the Pearl River Delta offers superbly developed and wide-ranging production capabilities. For overseas firms The PRD with its high levels of spending power and foreign brand awareness and loyalty, is a strong choice as a first market with China.

The purpose of the Finland-Hong Kong Trade Association is to develop the relations between Finland and Hong Kong/the Pearl River Delta and to create better awareness of existing possibilities to enhance business relations between the countries. Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) supports this aim. The trade association is also a member of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide. The trade association operates in cooperation with 31 other country associations under the umbrella of the Federation of Hong Kong Business Associations Worldwide.

The Finland-Hong Kong Trade Association was established in 1985 and its domicile is the city of Helsinki, Finland. Trade association's secretariat is at the WTC Helsinki.
